Overview

A conceptual magazine focusing on zoology for kids. This is a project on the wisdom keepers by WWF, on how it is important to keep the bisons safe in South Dakota, leading the efforts of restoring the indigenous lands and lifeways. For the art style, I focused more on the cuter aspect as it is meant to attract the kids' attention, and decided on a low‑poly design to keep it simple but still be able to play with the colours and textures.

The outcomeMagazine illustration featuresFor the matriarch bison to stand out, a collar was added to it as a symbol, with a bird on top. Having the same colour scheme as the bison, it creates a connection showing that it is the leader of the herd. Framing was added with a trunk and rock to guide the viewer's eye.

Micro illustration featuresThe micro illustration shows the bisons eating as a herd, creating a refreshing new scene. Exaggerated lighting and shadows were added to create an emotional, almost ethereal atmosphere, showing that the bisons should be saved in order for the restoration of the indigenous lands and lifeways.
