Overview

An interactive data‑journalism article on the Singapore Salary Guide 2026 that helps workers in Singapore see how their pay compares with the wider labour market. Drawing on Ministry of Manpower data across more than 500 occupations, it lets readers enter their details and see where their salary sits against a relevant peer group. I designed the colour scheme and created the motion graphics for the piece.

Screen recording of the Singapore Salary Guide 2026 on a phone: the dollar coin spins beside the bar graph above the age, salary and job form
Screen recording of the results on a phone: the hourly pay of $20.3 per hour, with yellow runners racing towards a finish flag and the list of the 10 jobs with the highest median salaries below

The outcomeCoins and bar graph featuresThis is a snapshot of the motion graphic in the article. My idea was to create a concise motion graphic where just by looking at it, the reader or viewers would know it is about salary while also showing the different salaries by having the bar graphs moving up and down.

Racer featuresThis is a snapshot of the motion graphic in the article. My idea was to create human figures ‘running’ to the finish line not in the sense of ‘who has a higher pay’ but more so it being a symbol of individualism between each person to reach the finishing line.
